As a designer, it’s easy to imagine settings in the typical medieval style: a life of stoney grays, muddy browns, and bloody reds. The whimsical and truly fantastical is often harder to conceive and create. But, when done right, it can be very effective. I love the contrast of the colorful and weird against a harsh world of dragons, trolls, and cobblestones.

This art piece is a nice compromise–keeping well within the bounds of believability, while still adding flair to make the environment feel a bit otherworldly.
